Margarett Nicholson, 100, of Pine Bluff died July 17, 2011 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was born September 6, 1910 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to the late James and Ruth Jackson and spent her early childhood traveling with her late grandparents Alex and Katie Criswell.
She was educated in both Missouri and Arkansas public schools and lived in Blytheville, Arkansas before settling in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
She united in Holy Matrimony to Hosie Nicholson who preceded her in death and to this union six children were born . One son, "Little James" also preceded her in death.
She joined the Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and was a member of the Deaconess and Mother's Boards, Missionary Society and also served as Sunday School Secretary. She remained a faithful member mentally, spiritually and financially until her death.
She leaves to cherish her memory three sons: Wilfred Holly Jr. of St. Louis, Missouri, Lenard Nicholson (Delois) of Cerritos, California and Leroy Nicholson of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, two daughters: Melba Lee (C. James) and Patsy Woods, both of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, twenty-two grandchildren, eighty great-grandchildren, many great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday July 23, 2011 at the Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church by Rev. Lloyd A. Holcomb Jr. The body will lie in state at the church from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time.
Burial will be in Henson Memorial Garden by Henson-Holcomb Mortuary
